"This is my Son, the beloved; listen to him!"
Six days later,
Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain
apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes
became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them. And there
appeared to them Elijah with Moses, who were talking with Jesus. Then Peter said
to Jesus, “Rabbi, itis good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one
for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He did not know what to say, for
they were terrified. Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there
came a voice, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” Suddenly when they
looked around, they saw no one with them any more, but only Jesus.

The New
Zealand Anglican Lord’s Prayer
Eternal Spirit,
Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all
that is and that shall be,
Father and
Mother of us all,
Loving God, in
whom is heaven:
The hallowing of
your name echo through the universe!
The way of your
justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly
will be done by all created beings!
Your
commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread
we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we
absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of
temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too
great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of
all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in
the glory of the power that is love, now and for ever.
Amen.
